Watford are about to complete the signing of Fluminense youngster Matheus Martins, according to reports from Brazil.
Globo Esporte writes that the 19-year-old went through medicals and was approved ‘both’ by Udinese and the Hornets.
It’s the Italian club who are said to be buying Martins from Fluminense. Then Watford, who belong to the same owners, are are said to be taking him on loan.
Udinese are reportedly spending €9m on the signing, with €6m initially and €3m in bonuses. The Brazilian side will still keep 10% of a future sale.
According to Globo Esporte, Martins is now signing the contract and will travel this month to ‘start organising the move to England’. He’s set to be registered once the transfer window opens in January.
It’s not yet made clear how long the winger is staying at Watford, as the report only mentions a ‘pre-agreement’ the Hornets already had to land him from Udinese.
Matheus Martins is set to be the third player moving from Fluminense to Vicarage Road, as Richarlison and João Pedro both took the same path.
