Brazilian outlet GZH reports Grêmio are on the verge of announcing the signing of Willian, the former Chelsea, Arsenal and Fulham midfielder.
The 37-year-old is currently a free agent after leaving Craven Cottage in June and has agreed terms with the Porto Alegre side, with only medicals and paperwork left.
According to local journalist Kaliel Dorneles, the deal is already sealed between the parties, and the official confirmation should arrive shortly.
GZH add that while talks with Willian were not recent, negotiations accelerated in the past few days after the player signalled his willingness to return to Brazil.
Since he was unattached, Grêmio were not obliged to register him before the closure of the international transfer window on Tuesday, but the club are still expected to move quickly to formalise the contract.
In Porto Alegre, he will now form a Fulham reunion, as striker Carlos Vinícius, who also played for the London side, is already part of the squad.
