William Osula had been a pretty regular feature in the Premier League last season for Sheffield United, making 21 appearances.
He made enough of a mark for the Blades to earn a move to Newcastle United in August, as the Magpies forked out a fee of £15m to land the attacker.
He’s yet to make an appearance for Newcastle United but that will surely be on the way soon for the 21-year-old.
The Danish youngster has been speaking Ekstra Bladet about how the move to St James’ Park came about and how quickly it all fell into place.
He said: “It actually happened very quickly. I thought there were a lot of ‘rumours’ about me going to Newcastle, but I didn’t look into it. I was very focused on the Sheffield United season starting soon.
“All of a sudden Sheffield came and told me that Newcastle wanted to pick me up and that they would accept the offer.”
Osula revealed that despite the rumours, his agent telling him Newcastle United were truly moving for him came as something of a surprise, but a pleasant one at that.
The forward went on to says the Magpies is a ‘huge club’ and he’s willing to wait for his chance to arrive.
“It is something that I am very proud of. It’s a big club. Newcastle is a huge club and I am very happy to have made the switch to Newcastle from Sheffield United.
“My time will come. So I’m looking forward to seeing what will happen in the future.”
The likes of Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson are ahead of Osula in the Newcastle pecking order for strikers. The player is quite keen to learn and get used to the playing style under Eddie Howe.
“I’m getting there now, where there are already huge stars. So I get there and have to learn their style and how they play.
“I just have to come in and learn a lot of things from the coaches and players. I just have to become a better player and then hopefully my time will come where I can play a lot in the future.”
The ex-Blades youngster has been on the bench for all four of Newcastle’s games in all competitions so far, which is clearly suggestive of the fact that his inclusion in the XI is on the way.
