Newcastle United “will win titles” in the coming years as they continue to go from strength to strength with the backing of their Saudi Arabian owners.
That’s according to Dietmar Hamann, who believes there are titles in the future for the Magpies if they continue to spend their money wisely.
The former Newcastle midfielder turned pundit has been speaking to WAZ in Germany ahead of Newcastle’s clash with Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.
Eddie Howe’s side are currently flying, having bounced back from a disappointing start to the season to currently sit 6th in the Premier League and top of their Champions League group after the 4-1 win over Paris Saint Germain.
It’s continued the steady rise of the club since a Saudi-led consortium finally managed to purchase the club from Mike Ashley in October 2021.
Since that point they’ve turned the fortunes of the club around, turning them from relegation fodder to Champions League qualification and one of the more entertaining sides in Europe.
The future is looking increasingly bright if they continue on this path and Hamann believes there will be titles in that future.
“In England, if someone comes who has a lot of money, anything is possible,” he said.
“The British don’t really care where the money comes from, they separate it. The investors from Saudi Arabia were welcomed with open arms.
“Money can be a curse, but they have used it cleverly, signing Sven Botman, Bruno Guimaraes and Alexander Isak, they are excellent footballers, but they are not on the top shelf. The team structure was not broken. The club will win titles in the next few years.”
