With Nicolo Zaniolo’s situation at Aston Villa far from what the player was expecting, Italy manager Luciano Spalletti has a decision to make.
This is what Gazzetta Dello Sport are reporting on Thursday, as the former Napoli boss enjoys having the Galatasaray owned player in his squad, but can’t keep calling him up if he doesn’t play at Villa Park.
Initially loaned from the Turkish side by Aston Villa in the summer with an option to buy that many expected to be triggered, the playmaker has done anything but convince Unai Emery, and his display against Tottenham drew a lot of criticism from fans.
He was unkindly asked to return to his parent club, which appears to be very likely at this stage, which doesn’t help Spalletti.
While the manager appears to have moved on from Moise Kean, he ‘will think twice’ about doing the same for Zaniolo.
However, he ‘needs answers’ about the Aston Villa loanee’s ‘behaviour and continuity’ before making what could be a radical decision for his plans and the future of the player in the national team, especially with the Euros around the corner.
