There appears to be a bit of disagreement when it comes to Pedro’s contractual situation at Chelsea going forward.
On Tuesday, the Premier League club announced that both the Spaniard and Willian had signed short-term extensions that would see them stay at Stamford Bridge beyond June 30th.
In their statement, they made it clear the pair ‘will be available for our remaining Premier League fixtures in 2019/20, as well as any future involvement in the FA Cup and Champions League’.
With the fixtures of the latter kicking off again in August, this would mean Pedro, who looks set to join AS Roma once his commitments at Chelsea end, would stay until August 23rd at the latest, when the final will take place in Lisbon.
They state Pedro ‘has reached an agreement with Chelsea to continue the season until July 31st’, before adding ‘he will therefore not play the European cups, taking advantage to prepare himself better and start the season in Rome’.
It’s said the former Barcelona man’s ‘signature is virtually in the safe’, and Gazzetta are basically acting as if he will be playing under Paulo Fonseca next year.
Whether that’s from August onwards, however, we’ll have to see, but it’s a contradiction worth pointing out at this moment in time.
