Sent to Marseille on loan from Napoli with a view to buy, Arkadiusz Milik put an end to the rumours surrounding his future, at least for a few months.

Contracted in the south of France until June 2022, the Poland international should remain there until then, but there have been rumours that the Ligue 1 side could cash in early by buying him outright to sell him for a profit this summer.

Whether that takes place, however, will entirely depend on the size of the club that come knocking, with Crystal Palace suggested as a potential interested party.

That’s according to La Provence, who take a look at Milik’s future after his ‘successful gamble’ of moving to Marseille, where he has scored eight goals in 14 games since arriving, including a very important hat trick at the weekend in a 3-2 win over Angers SCO.

Over at Selhurst Park, there is likely going to be a summer of change, especially if Roy Hodgson calls it a day on  his time in London, and with Christian Benteke also set to leave on a free, a new striker will be needed.

Someone like Milik would certainly fit the bill, but La Provence suggest that should they come knocking, they will be turned down.

‘Very happy’ at Marseille, according to Pablo Longoria and confirmed by the newspaper, it’s stated that ‘if Crystal Palace show the tip of their nose, there will surely be a refusal, but if Juventus do, it won’t be the same scenario…’

So, it appears Palace might need to look elsewhere for their summer striker recruitment drive.
