On Sunday, Southampton parted ways Will Still after winning just four of the 16 matches under his orders.

The manager joined the Saints in July and his task was to help them return to the Premier League.

Southampton have endured a difficult run under him, winning two of their 13 Championship matches. Their poor run has sees them 19th in the table.

While Southampton are yet to appoint Still’s successor, he’s already been linked to AS Saint-Étienne. Earlier this week, we covered claims from France that the Ligue 2 side remain a credible option for him.

Homme du Match now cover the latest on Saint-Étienne’s managerial situation and Will Still’s chances of joining them.

Eirik Horneland is in charge of the French club, who are third in the Ligue 2 table. They have lost four of their last six matches. The report states a defeat against Troyes later this weekend could lead to the Norwegian’s exit.

Faced with this possibility, Saint-Étienne are looking at a few options. Will Still is said to be under consideration, after his impressive spell in France with Stade de Reims and RC Lens.

According to Homme du Match, Still would prefer to continue in England, where he has a ‘strong personal and family ties’. Therefore, he’s not considering the possibility of joining Saint-Étienne, in the event they release Horneland.
