Genoa CEO Andrés Blázquez has suggested to Romania’s GSP.ro that Radu Drăgușin won’t stay at Tottenham Hotspur for long.
Last week, the centre-back left the Serie A side and completed a move to the north London club, where he has signed a contract until 2030.
Despite the long-term deal, the new Tottenham signing’s agent, Florin Manea, has stated that his client’s dream is to join Real Madrid or Barcelona in the next three to four years.
Manea is now joined by Blázquez in suggesting Spurs will be a stepping stone for the 21-year-old to get even a bigger move elsewhere.
The Italian club’s official has revealed that his side’s initial aim was to sell the player after the Euros for around €40-45m. They had to change their plans after Tottenham came in for him.
Genoa have collected €25m plus €6m in bonuses from the Romania international’s sale to Ange Postecoglou’s side. Tottenham were able to overcome tough competition from Bayern Munich to secure his services, with the help of the defender himself.
On his side’s decision to sell Drăgușin to Tottenham this month, Blázquez explained: “We would have gotten more money [from Bayern], a few million, and Radu’s contract would have been better. But we respected his desire to play in the Premier League.”
Drăgușin made his Tottenham debut when he came off the bench in his side’s 2-2 draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford.
