Towards the end of the summer window, Chelsea made an attempt to sign Club Brugge’s Antonio Nusa. Soon after, the winger admitted the Blues offered a lot of money but decided to continue at the Jupiler Pro League after holding talks with them.
The 18-year-old has scored a goal on his debut for Norway against Jordan, and then registered two assists against Georgia, in this month’s international break.
Gazet van Antwerpen have a report on his latest displays for his country, where they have relayed claims made by the Norwegian press praising the player.
Club Brugge signed the teenager from Stabæk in 2021 and the newspaper have relayed comments made by his former manager, Gaute Larsen. He developed close ties with Nusa during his final year at the Norwegian club.
“I was very close to him, especially in his last year at Stabæk. Because he could not yet drive a car and there was no public transport due to the corona pandemic, I picked him up every day for five months so that he could train and play with the first team. Then I got to know him very well. Even now we are still in touch often,” he said.
The bond between Larsen and the player was enough for the former to convince the Club Brugge star to reject a move to Chelsea.
When discussing the approach made by Mauricio Pochettino’s side, Larsen explained: “I said that he should still stay at Club Brugge. And he wanted that too, especially now that he plays more.”
“There’s no hurry. I told him that there will be offers again in January or next summer, because big clubs all over the world are following him.”
