Following 4-0 losses to both Celtic and Ajax, Rangers FC will try and turn their form around on Wednesday night against Napoli at Ibrox.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s men welcome the Italians in the Champions League clash that could help them kickstart a new run if they come out victors, and they will be counting on the fans to help them get the boost they need.
This is something Marco Negri knows well, having played for Rangers in the past, and, following an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport recently, continued his tour of talks with a chat on TMW Radio, where he was asked about his former side.
He said: “The stadium will be decisive, that roar gets you going. [Rangers] are a wounded animal, [Napoli] must be careful of the reaction. It will be bedlam in the first few minutes. After that, the technical ability, shape of play, they can be decisive.”
Negri spent four years at Rangers FC, during which he also spent six months on loan at Vicenza, and made a hugely memorable impact when he scored 23 goals in his first 10 league games.
Injuries hindered his form after that first campaign, but he remains fondly remembered for the moments when he did do what he had been bought to do.
It’s that kind of efficiency in front of goal Giovanni van Bronckhorst will be wanting from his Rangers team against Napoli on Wednesday, and if they can get an early goal, it could change the entire game.
