There’s a claim in the Turkish media that Galatasaray are showing interest in Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo.
With uncertainty over Gabriel Sara’s future, the Super Lig leaders could look to bring in a central midfielder.
Sabah report on developments regarding Gala’s pursuit for a possible replacement for Sara. In recent weeks they’ve been linked with Manchester United’s Manuel Ugarte.
Mainoo is now an option for Galatasaray and Gala will be patient with attempts to sign him. According to Sabah, Cimbom are prepared to offer up to €30m for the youngster.
Beşiktaş have also been linked with the player in recent weeks, but their local rivals are looking to ambush any possible deal.
Desire for Manchester United player looks overly ambitious
However, Galatasaray’s interest seems ambitious given Ruben Amorim departed Old Trafford earlier this week. This season Mainoo struggled to get games under the Portuguese coach and didn’t make a start in the Premier League.
With speculation Ole Gunnar Solskjær could be appointed as interim manager it’s very unlikely he would let the England international leave. Darren Fletcher and Michael Carrick have also been linked with the role and are likely to have the same stance over the 20-year-old.
Mainoo is contracted to the Red Devils until June 2027, with the option of another season.
In addition to all of that, €30m is a wildly low valuation.
