Reports of Serge Gnabry potentially joining Newcastle United are ‘wide of the mark’ as he doesn’t want the transfer.
That’s according to journalist Florian Plettenberg, who has quickly quashed any Newcastle United hopes after recent reports of their potential interest.
A report yesterday gave Newcastle encouragement in their potential pursuit of Gnabry, making it clear that Bayern Munich want to sell him this summer and there could be a deal there to be done.
The belief is that the Germany is on the list of saleable assets for the German giants as they look to reshape their squad this summer and start a new era under Vincent Kompany.
The idea is that several of the big names could depart, with Gnabry among them, particularly given Michael Olise has now been signed from Crystal Palace.
That had seen him linked to Newcastle, but Plettenberg has poured cold water on that idea today, insisting that rumours of a move are ‘wide of the mark’.
He reports that while Newcastle may be interested, Gnabry has no intention of joining the Magpies. In fact, the 29-year-old still has no intention of leaving Bayern and wants to stay, with is current contract running until 2026.
Thus, that should be the end of this particular rumour and Newcastle may be well served focusing their attention elsewhere.
