AFC Bournemouth star Justin Kluivert was on loan at Valencia from AS Roma during the 2022/23 season.

The attacking midfielder scored eight goals and registered two assists from 29 games for the La Liga club. His performances would have partly convinced Bournemouth to buy him from Roma in June 2023.

The Bournemouth player returned to Mestalla with the Netherlands to face Spain in the UEFA Nations League on Sunday. La Roja made it to the semi-final after overcoming the visitors via the penalty shootout.

After the Netherlands’ elimination, Kluivert spoke to the reporters in the mixed zone and El Desmarque relayed his comments.

The 25-year-old was pleased with the reception from the supporters at Mestalla when Ronald Koeman replaced him with RB Leipzig’s Xavi Simons in the 78th minute.

“Very happy. The fans are sensational. I love Mestalla, it’s the number one stadium. I really like Mestalla and the fans. How wonderful! I’m very happy to be playing here again. The fans applauded me when I was substituted,” he said.

The Dutchman was then asked whether he would like to return to the Spanish club in the future.

Responding to that, Kluivert explained: “Why not? Why not? I have a lot of affection for Valencia, for the fans, and you never know the future.”

Kluivert managed 13 goals and seven assists from 32 games this season. His contract is until 2028, and this puts the Cherries in a comfortable position to negotiate his potential sale.

Valencia, taking their financial situation into account, are unlikely to make an approach for the player at least in the summer window.
