Watford have agreed a fee of €15m with Juventus for Argentine star Roberto Pereyra, reports Gazzetta dello Sport. Gazzetta say in the last ‘few hours’ Watford reached an agreement with Pereyra on a five year contract worth €2m/season.
It is reported Pereyra’s excellent relationship with the Pozzo family during his time at Udinese helped Watford in completing a deal. The Pozzo group own both Watford and Udinese, and previously owned La Liga’s Granada, selling the club this year.
Negotiations are believed to be long and intense, which would fit in with previous reports, and hopefully now all that is missing is the official confirmation.
Watford boss Walter Mazzarri was apparently keen on signing Pereyra, and should be delighted to finally land him.
The Argentine was reportedly happy to continue at Juventus, but the chance of playing in the Premier League was tempting, and no doubt higher wages played a part too.
