One of the clear unwanted players at Barcelona, Clément Lenglet could end up being offloaded before the end of the transfer window, with Aston Villa the latest club linked.

It’s been well-known that Tottenham were keen at one stage, and the La Liga side want to get rid of the player’s wages off their salary bill, which Monchi could help them with.

The latest on the situation comes from Vamos Mi Sevilla, who cover the situation from their club’s perspective, as they were trying to get a deal over the line before Aston Villa meddled.

It’s said that Sevilla were ‘negotiating a loan deal’ with Barcelona where they would pay for 30-35% of his wages; a move to which the player ‘would have said yes’.

However, Aston Villa have come knocking, and the director of football is directly fighting against his former side.

The Villans are reportedly ‘strongly negotiating the transfer’ of the Frenchman, and this is something Barcelona would much prefer, rather than just getting rid of him temporarily.

This is why it’s the offer that ‘most convinces’ Barcelona and makes it ‘impossible’ for Lenglet to move back to Sevilla, who are ‘already looking for other options’.
