Eintracht Frankfurt appear to be raising the white flag on signing Nottingham Forest striker Arnaud Kalimuendo this summer.
BILD Frankfurt report on the situation today, including comments from sporting director Markus Krösche.
Nottingham Forest talks
The newspaper explains that Markus Krösche was busy discussing the hottest transfer topics at Frankfurt’s training camp this week.
Arnaud Kalimuendo was among the names that were brought up. He spent the second half of last season on loan at the German club from Nottingham Forest.
The two parties are keen to continue that relationship this season. Indeed, Sport Witness have covered numerous reports from Germany about the ongoing negotiations between the two clubs.
Frankfurt’s efforts, though, have been stalled by Oliver Glasner’s arrival at Nottingham Forest this summer. He has made it clear that he wants to analyse all of his inherited players first this summer before making any decisions.
White flag raised
That has given Kalimuendo a second shot at proving himself at the City Ground. And it also means a sale to Frankfurt is now on the backburner for the time being. Now it seems they have been cancelled entirely. That’s at least if Krösche’s comments are anything to go by.
“We aren’t in talks with anyone at the moment. Kali is a Nottingham player; that’s the situation. There’s nothing more to say about it” he said.
It seems, then, that Eintracht Frankfurt are fully raising the white flag on their pursuit of Arnaud Kalimuendo this summer. Krösche is certainly not offering anything optimistic on that front.
Indeed, his comments carry a tone of frustration if anything. That could be understandable given a deal didn’t look too difficult not so long ago. Now it appears that the situation has changed completely.
Of course, there’s still time for that to change in the coming weeks. But for now, it appears Frankfurt have given up and are moving on.
