Over the last few days, Juventus have seemed keen on signing Newcastle United’s Lloyd Kelly.

Talks have been held for a move, but the Magpies have not quite budged from their stance about the defender.

Now, it seems increasingly certain that Kelly will stay at Newcastle United until the end of the season.

Corriere dello Sport have reported that Juve made initial contact for the Englishman ten days ago as they wanted a left-footed defender. Since then, they have already signed Renato Veiga from Chelsea, who is also left-footed.

The newspaper believe that the Portuguese’s arrival in Turin means that the Old Lady will not move for the Newcastle United defender.

A similar sentiment is echoed by TuttoSport, who do not rule out a move completely but state that the 26-year-old is not a priority target for the Bianconeri ay longer. His profile is now in the ‘background’.

Newcastle United wanted a deal structure which Juventus felt they couldn’t agree to, with the Turin club being keen on a loan without an obligation so they could take a look at Kelly before committing themselves in the long term.
