Jobe Bellingham’s performances at Borussia Dortmund are ‘causing internal discussions’ after his €30m move from Sunderland.

That’s according to BILD. They report that there are ‘whispers within the club’ about Bellingham, who is yet to prove worthy of the effort to get him.

The newspaper reports that there is a ‘Bellingham dilemma’ at Dortmund over the former Sunderland man. He was supposed to follow in his older brother’s footsteps, but things aren’t quite going smoothly.

While he makes hardly any mistakes and appears calm and composed, it is this which is causing discussions to be held.

The feeling is that Bellingham doesn’t bring enough dynamism. He plays too cautiously, takes too few risks and generally plays it safe. It’s a case of lots of safe passes and ‘little penetration’.

While his passing accuracy is among the best in the Bundesliga, it’s also indicative of an ‘impression of harmlessness’. That’s also borne out in other stats. Bellingham has no goals, no assists and only eight shots in 20 appearances so far.

Those numbers are far too low for a ‘star signing’ who cost €30m to get from Sunderland. He was supposed to take Dortmund to a new level. Instead, he’s been ‘flawless but mostly ineffective’.

Neither party are considering a split at this point, and Dortmund have firm faith in the former Sunderland star. In fact, they consider him a long-term project. But questions are being asked and Bellingham needs to start doing move to convince.
