Lucas Bergvall joined Tottenham Hotspur in 2024, after Spurs beat off serious competition for the Swedish youngster. Barcelona had been working to sign him from Djurgården, and there’d been Catalan confidence of an agreed deal.

Spurs won out in the end with an acceptance around Barcelona that Bergvall had simply been more convinced by their project.

The 19-year-old appears to have been entirely correct to choose Tottenham. After 45 appearances, and a Europa League trophy, in his first season, he’s already played 19 times in this campaign. That figure would be higher if not for a head knock in November.

Lucas’ older brother Theo, 21-years-of-age, plays for Djurgården, where the Tottenham player brought himself to the attention of wider football. The pair both initially went professional with IF Brommapojkarna, and now there’s a third Bergvall following that path.

Sweden’s Fotbolldirekt report 17-year-old Rasmus Bergvall has signed his first professional contract. Naturally, with IF Brommapojkarna.

Rasmus is described as a ‘strong and solid’ defender, playing either centre-back or right-back. According to Fotbolldirekt, he’s ‘even more explosive’ than his two older brothers.

One to keep an eye on then, Tottenham.
