Celtic have identified Pumas manager Efraín Juárez as a candidate to become Brendan Rodgers’ successor at Celtic Park.
On Thursday, we covered claims from Mexico that Celtic have held talks with the 37-year-old. It was also indicated his future remains uncertain at Pumas.
Record in Mexico cover comments made by the manager on the latest claims of Celtic interest. This initially originated in the UK, where it was reported the Scottish club have Juárez among one of the targets.
The Mexican manager responded to reports linking him to the Scottish Premiership winners.
“I have no expectations of such circumstances, whatever happens will happen, but today I’m very calm, happy, and excited about my club that opened its doors to me 20 years ago,” he said.
Juárez previously had a spell at the Mexican side during his playing career. They sold him to the Bhoys in July 2022, and he spent two years at Celtic Park. His latest comments would suggest a possible move to Celtic isn’t advanced.
Although the manager’s name is frequently linked to Celtic, Record reports they haven’t made an official offer yet.
Three days ago, Excélsior reported Juárez has two years left on his contract. It includes a clause that will allow him to move to Europe without paying a fee to Pumas. If Celtic are keen, they could probably take advantage of his clause.
