Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Matz Sels has insisted he is not concerned about Thibaut Courtois return to the Belgian national team.

RTL Info cover comments from the goalkeeper today made to Play Sports, in which he insists that he’s solely focused on his own performances.

Sels has been in impressive form for Nottingham Forest this season, with 11 clean sheets in 27 games in the Premier League and just 33 conceded.

That, though, has not helped him to become Belgium number one, with Koen Casteels the preferred option under former manager Domenico Tedesco.

That would have been a frustration for the Nottingham Forest star, whose chances of being number one were considerably higher given Thibaut Courtois’ self-imposed exile after a falling out with Tedesco.

That’s now come to an end as the Real Madrid goalkeeper recently announced he was making himself available under new manager Rudi Garcia.

Most now expect him to return as number one, particularly after Garcia admitted the news was great for all of Belgium.

On the flip side, it’s bad news for Sels and his prospects, but the Nottingham Forest number one isn’t particularly concerned.

” I focus only on myself,” he said.

“Of course, I read a little here and there what is said, but these are things that do not depend on me. What can I say? I think I do a good job, so I cannot do more than that. (…) It is up to the coach to make a decision on it.”
