AFC Bournemouth’s Dean Huijsen has told the Spanish media a friend has asked him to join Real Madrid.

The defender revealed this to El Chiringuito’s Los amigos de Edu, hosted by Edu Aguirre, and Marca have relayed his comments.

“A friend called me and said… ‘Go to Real Madrid.’ I laughed. What can I say?” he said.

Huijsen joined Bournemouth from Juventus last summer and signed a contract until 2030.

The centre-back has been featuring regularly under Andoni Iraola, playing 29 games so far for the Cherries. His performances were rewarded with a call up from Spain last month and made debut his debut against the Netherlands.

Over the past few weeks, several claims from Spain have stated Real Madrid want to sign him in the summer.

Los Blancos are aware the 19-year-old is liked by a few top clubs in the Premier League. AS reported last month that Real Madrid are hopeful that his desire to join them will get ahead of the competition.

The Spain international insists he isn’t aware that “many teams” are interested in him.

When Aguirre specifically asked him about the possibility of joining Real Madrid, Huijsen explained: “Madrid are a big team, and every player wants to play as much as possible. Do I want to play for Real Madrid? I don’t know. We’ll see.”

The Bournemouth player has also confirmed his release clause without providing any numbers.

“I have a contract until 2030, and I have an exit clause. How much is my exit clause? The truth is, I don’t feel very strongly about it…” he added.

Earlier claims have stated Huijsen’s clause is around €50m while Aguirre states it’s set at €58m.
