West Ham United showed keen interest in Inter Milan’s Yann Bisseck in the last window, according to claims from Italy.
The 23-year-old arrived at the San Siro from Danish side AGF in July 2023 and his playing time was limited last season. To put it in context, he clocked in 900 minutes from 16 Serie A matches.
This didn’t stop West Ham from making an attempt to secure his services, according to Tuttosport.
The defender has clocked in 652 minutes from 11 games this season. The report mainly focuses on the German’s performances, especially against Manchester City and Arsenal in the Champions League.
This has convinced the Italian champions to open talks to extend his contract until 2029 with an improved deal [double his current salary of €1.2m per year]. Tuttosport state this won’t stop his potential exit next summer.
West Ham are said to have offered €30m for him in the last window. It’s claimed this was ‘easy to refuse’ for Inter president Giuseppe Marotta.
The report states Inter would find it complicated if a top English club were to offer €40m or €50m next summer.
That’s because the Nerazzurri, who reportedly paid €7m, can make a huge profit from the centre-back’s sale. For the player, his qualities seem to be ‘tailor-made for the Premier League’. Therefore, it would be difficult for Inter to turn down an offer next summer.
Gazzetta dello Sport say Bisseck is impressing because of his good pre-season and the trust shown by Inter, who apparently rejected West Ham’s €30m offer in the summer.
