We can’t promise that West Ham United will make a serious bid for Gonzalo Montiel this summer, but it’s safe to say this is one of the most repeated rumours of this transfer window.

Every single day, for several reasons, the Argentine press finds a way to reaffirm that the Hammers are interested in signing the River Plate fullback. We’ll bring two examples of it today.

Gonzalo Montiel returned to training this week, with the Buenos Aires side publishing a couple of pictures of him on their social media accounts.

When covering the story, outlet TyC Sports highlights that the player is wanted by ‘West Ham from England and also called attention from a few clubs from Italy’.

Bolavip is another one feeding the rumour. They bring a story which is actually about Colón defender Alex Vigo, who recently revealed that River Plate are interested in signing him.

The website then writes that Vigo could be a replacement for Montiel, who could soon leave the club. The report says there have been no big developments in West Ham’s chase for the fullback lately, but ‘the follow-up of the English club is a blunt fact’.
