On Thursday, Sky Deutschland journalist Philipp Hinze reported West Ham United are in advanced talks to sign RB Leipzig’s André Silva in the winter market. He also reported the Hammers are discussing a loan deal with an option to buy.

Another Sky journalist Florian Plettenberg took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to back up Hinze’s claim and also provides the latest on West Ham.

He claims the striker is currently West Ham’s priority target to improve their attack in this window, after they failed to sign other targets.

The English club haven’t found an agreement with the Bundesliga side so far, and the 29-year-old’s future remains in the air.

Plettenberg claims West Ham have been in advanced talks with the Portuguese forward and will hold new talks with him on Friday to try and finalise the agreement.

This could help West Ham agree a deal with the Bundesliga side, likely on a loan deal with a purchase option. It may not be an issue considering Silva has been a bit part player [eight substitute appearances in the league] at Leipzig this season.

Michail Antonio and Niclas Füllkrug are on the sidelines and West Ham are working to give Graham Potter a new striker.
