West Ham United are looking at Atalanta’s Joakim Mæhle, according to multiple claims coming out of Italy today.

L’Eco di Bergamo is the newspaper local to the Serie A side and they have a report, relayed by Calcio Atalanta, discussing players whose sales ‘will be inevitable’ this summer.

This list includes the 25-year-old, and West Ham ‘monitor him’. That’s all the information mentioned about the Hammers and the Denmark international, who operated as a right-back, right wing-back and left wing-back last term.

Another Italian website, Tutto Atalanta, provides a short update on West Ham’s interest in the player. They explain David Moyes’ side ‘want’ the former Genk man in the ongoing window.

Mæhle still has three years left on his contract and the report adds Gian Piero Gasperini’s side value him around €18m.

With the Premier League club setting their sights on the versatile player, Tutto Atalanta add West Ham could make a ‘lunge’ to sign the Dane in the ‘next few days’.

Mæhle managed three goals and two assists from 35 matches in all competitions for Atalanta last season.
