Spending last season on loan from Paris Saint-Germain at Fulham, Alphonse Aréola was one of the best performers for the Cottagers.

While he was unable to stop the club’s return to the Championship, the goalkeeper caught the eye with his saves and often made scoreline far more reasonable than they should have been.

One of the teams he impressed, it seems, are West Ham United, who are reportedly ‘very interested’ in the France international, according to Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna.

Aréola is said to know his future is far away from Paris Saint-Germain, especially with the expected arrival of Gianluigi Donnarumma, and the Hammers have jumped at the opportunity.

David Moyes’ side reportedly ‘want to close the deal in the coming days’, which is expected to be a ‘loan with a view to buy’.

This will provide competition for Lukasz Fabianski, whose future at London Stadium beyond next summer will now be in doubt.
