According to a claim in the Italian media, West Ham United have tabled an ‘official offer’ for Real Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovacic in the ‘past few hours’.
With a lack of prominence, the Croatia international recently told Spanish newspaper Marca he wants a transfer this summer.
TMW report West Ham are looking to move in on Kovacic as they seek to add to the squad for next season. It’s claimed Serie A sides Juventus, AS Roma and Napoli are interested in the central midfielder, but the Hammers are described as the most interested club in the player.
Real Madrid aren’t keen to sell, according to the Spanish media, and it the West Ham offer is real it would surely be questionable whether Kovacic would want to drop out of the Champions League bracket.
With the competition ahead of him at Real Madrid Kovacic only played 21 times in La Liga last season and wasn’t involved in the Champions League final against Liverpool.
Kovacic is contracted to Real Madrid until June 2021.
