On July 9th, SportBild reported West Ham United are keen on signing Werder Bremen goalkeeper Michael Zetterer. They also stated the Bundesliga club could cash in from his sale this summer, to improve their finances.

The Premier League club have now taken further steps to try and sign the 30-year-old.

That’s according to Sky Deutschland, and they report West Ham’s interest and Werder Bremen’s plans for the German.

He was the first-choice stopper last season and may no longer have a prominent role this season. That’s because the German club believe Mio Backhaus can become their new No.1 and therefore, they have decided to put Zetterer ‘up for sale’ in this window.

West Ham can take advantage of his situation, and the report states they have made an offer to secure Zetterer’s services. There’s no mention of the fee offered by the Hammers, but Sky claims it’s less than the €5m demanded by Werder Bremen.

The player ‘can easily imagine’ moving to England. It’s unclear whether Graham Potter’s side will return with an improved offer.

Sky add Fenerbahçe goalkeeper Dominik Livaković is also on the London club’s list but make no mention of Botafogo’s John Victor.

On Tuesday, claims from Brazil indicateed West Ham are expected to finalise John Victor’s signing this week.
