Ajax owned striker Danilo has revealed his disappointment that the club elected to sign Sebastien Haller from West Ham this month.

The Ivory Coast striker joined the Dutch giants in a surprise move last week, leaving West Ham just 18 months after a move from Eintracht Frankfurt.

The move brought an end to a miserable spell with the Hammers, with the striker struggling to replicate the form he had shown in Germany despite early signs of promise.

He’ll look to get his career back on track in the Netherlands, his second spell in the country after a two-year stint with FC Utrecht earlier in his career.

He arrives at Ajax to provide further competition upfront, with Lassina Traore and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar the only recognised centre forwards at the club before his arrival.

So far there has been a mixed reception to his arrival and Danilo, who is currently on loan at FC Twente from Ajax, was one who was less than pleased to see the striker make the move from West Ham.

“Ajax is a top club and is always looking for the best players. They put a lot of money on the table for such a transfer, but I wish him and Ajax the best,” Voetbal Zone report him saying to ESPN.

“Yes, it has become a bit more complicated. I am not happy about that either, because it has made me lose hope a bit.

“I was told that if I did well here, I could be the first striker. I am the top scorer here, and I am proud of that.

“That is my job too. Ajax is always looking for good players and therefore buys them. I work hard and do what I enjoy most, which is football. Helping the team and scoring goals.”
