West Ham United tried to sign Lazio defender Francesco Acerbi this summer but the player was not keen on the move.
That’s according to Corriere dello Sport, who say the 34-year-old wasn’t interested in the move to London.
West Ham have spent most of this summer looking to reinforce their defence after injuries left them struggling in that position last season.
They moved early to sign Nayef Aguerd from Stade Rennais in a €35m deal but he is facing up to three months out injured after tearing his ankle ligaments in July.
That again left the Hammers in need of additions and this week saw them sign Thilo Kehrer in a deal from Paris Saint Germain.
It seems they ‘tried’ other players, though, and one of them was Acerbi.
Corriere explain that he’s currently being targeted by Inter but there had been an effort from West Ham as well.
They tried to reach an agreement with the 34-year-old, but they are ‘not a solution the defender likes’ and he ‘rejected’ the move.
He’s instead focused on Inter, who are trying to work out a loan deal with Lazio, who in turn are looking for €5m instead.
