West Ham United target Djibril Sow informed Eintracht Frankfurt he wants a move to England ‘weeks ago’ as the club continue to assume he’ll depart this summer.

That’s according to Frankfurter Rundschau, who cover the player today as the German side look to secure sales to trim down the squad and balance the books.

Sow is one of the players they would be more than happy to let depart for the right price, having already signed a replacement for him in this window.

West Ham United have long been credited with interest in him, particularly after selling Declan Rice to Arsenal.

That’s left a hole in their midfield that will need to be filled and they’ve been keen on him since the beginning of the year, when reports in England identified them among his suitors.

It’s since been explained that Sow was dreaming of a move to England, with it later explained that his price had halved, and he could be available at a bargain price.

Frankfurter Rundschau now follow that up and explain those in charge at Frankfurt ‘still assume’ that Sow ‘will leave’ the club in the coming weeks.

The midfielder is said to have ‘informed the club week ago’ that he would rather play in England in the future, something they are more than happy to grant him for the right price.

What figure West Ham would have to pay isn’t mentioned but the belief is that Frankfurt can earn €45m from sales, and €30-35m of that would come from Jesper Lindstrøm.

Thus, any deal for West Ham won’t be an expensive one, or particularly difficult to get over the line, with the player and the club open to a transfer to England.
