West Ham United summer signing Niclas Füllkrug has insisted the focus is on Europe this season, and the quality he’s seen in training has convinced him it’s doable.

The striker has been speaking to SportBILD about his move to West Ham this summer from Borussia Dortmund.

He was part of a major summer spend by West Ham in order to reshape the squad inherited by Julen Lopetegui.

No fewer than ten new players were added to the squad as a result, with a spend of €144m on the likes of Füllkrug, Max Kilman, Crysencio Summerville, Luis Guilherme and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

The hope is that they can kick on after another solid year under David Moyes last season that saw them finishing ninth.

They want to get back into Europe and be competing their regularly, having enjoyed success in the Europa Conference League under Moyes and challenged at the right end of the table under him.

Füllkrug is convinced that they can do that and believes if everyone else could see the quality he witnesses in training, they’d be as confidence as he is.

“The club used the past transfer window to rebuild and strengthen the squad,” he said.

“If you see the quality of the boys in training, then that’s a very high level. Of course, we still have to find each other. But the club’s goal is to reach European competition again.”
