AC Milan have decided to wait until the end of the window to sign Trevor Chalobah from Chelsea but could be boosted by West Ham’s signing of Lucas Paqueta.

That’s according to Corriere Dello Sport, who explain how a 15% clause on Paqueta will aid the Italian side, who are ‘hunting for bargains’ at the end of the window.

The newspaper explains that Milan chiefs Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara are holding talks with Chelsea over Chalobah, who will be allowed to leave as soon as the Blues wrap up a deal for Wesley Fofana.

Inter Milan are also keen on Chalobah, as are RB Leipzig, who have more economic power than the Milan clubs and have ‘strongly increased’ their efforts to get him.

Key to the matter is whether Chelsea decided to let him go out on loan or keep him as part of Thomas Tuchel’s squad, something that hasn’t seemingly been decided as yet and will be determined by the arrival of Fofana.

The clubs will also need to work out the finances of any deal, but Milan could be giving a helping hand in this regard by West Ham.

They’re about to finalise a €60m deal for Lyon’s Lucas Paqueta and that will see Milan pocket at least €6m, having included a 15% sell-on clause when they sold the Brazilian to Lyon.

That would help them to close deals for their targets ‘with more serenity’ and create the strange scenario of a player arriving at West Ham helping another to leave Chelsea in the process.
