As well as trying to sign a new forward, West Ham United are in the market for a new centre-back, especially after Harry Maguire turned them down.

They are looking around Europe for the right man, who could be at Bayer Leverkusen, according to Fussball Transfers.

They claim that as well as RB Leipzig, West Ham ‘have not broken off’ the contacts they started back in January for the Ecuador international.

In fact, Tim Steidten, who knows German football very well, is a ‘big fan’ of the defender, who has been out with injury for the past few months.

However, with the firm belief that he will be ‘back at 100%’ before the end of the transfer window, a move this summer can ‘no longer be ruled out’.

This is despite the fact the centre-back also extended his contract with Bayer Leverkusen in February until 2027.

West Ham would then clearly have to pay a fair chunk of money for Hincapié, but considering all the money they have managed to accumulate this summer with sales, that should be too much of an issue.
