When a player starts playing well in the Premier League, like Dimitri Payet has done for West Ham since arriving at West Ham, it’s only a matter of time before someone in Spain links him with Real Madrid.

That’s exactly what ABC have done with the Frenchman on Monday.

The Spanish daily newspaper have an article on their website looking at how well the French forward has played, and note that Real Madrid could be interested in his services for next season.

The player has allegedly let the Spanish giants he would be very interested to play for them if the opportunity arose, but there are some doubts over whether a transfer for him would be worth it.

Already scoring two goals for his country in the Euros, added to the 12 scored for his club over 38 games last season, the 29-year-old would require the La Liga runners-up to spend €45m (just under £35m), which, considering his age, would mean the inability to then sell him on.

ABC say the player is ‘efficient in attack, but isn’t a star’, which is what a club like Real Madrid are looking for on the transfer market.

West Ham and France fans will certainly have something to say about that.
