Despite some firm belief from the Italian media that West Ham United’s Gianluca Scamacca will be heading to Italy, the destination once he is in the country remains a mystery.
That’s because apart from AS Roma, there are other teams who are keen on his services, such as Inter Milan, as recalled by Corriere dello Sport.
They start off by making it clear the Italy international ‘sees his farewell from West Ham ever closer’, and while he does ‘hope to land in Rome’, that does not mean he will stay there.
That’s because he doesn’t ‘close the doors’ to other Serie A side, such as Inter, who are also, like Roma, keeping an eye on Alvaro Morata.
In short, Scamacca is ‘waiting’ to return to the league where he first made a proper name for himself at Sassuolo and wants to prove that he can shine at a top club.
He also wants to make sure Roberto Mancini takes note of him ahead of some international competitions.
As things stand, Tiago Pinto is ‘insisting’ on sealing a deal for a loan with an obligation to buy, while West Ham are ‘stalling waiting for offers’ from the other interested parties.
While AS Roma might have an agreement in place with Scamacca, there is a chance Inter find one with the Hammers on the transfer, meaning this is still a ‘situation in the making’ that could be unlocked ‘very soon’.
