West Ham United signing Niclas Füllkrug has shared his excitement to get started at the club and says he wants to go to war with his new teammates.

NTV cover comments from the striker today as he gears up for his debut with West Ham after arriving from Borussia Dortmund earlier this month.

The 31-year-old is one of several big signings made by the Hammers this summer as they’ve spent big to reshape the squad for new manager Julen Lopetegui.

He arrives after an impressive solitary year with Borussia Dortmund that saw him score 15 goals and registers 10 assists in 43 games in all competitions last season as they made it to the Champions League final.

He was also in good form at Euro 2024 for hosts Germany, bagging goals against Scotland and Switzerland before Germany were knocked out in the quarterfinals by eventual winners Spain.

West Ham now hope he can prove to be the striker they’ve long been looking for and Füllkrug is clearly ready to go out and fight to prove that the money and faith invested in him has not been misplaced.

“My daughter is looking forward to the bubbles. She said she wants to catch one,” he said.

“There is a lot of quality in the team – and more than ninth place. Hopefully we can be better next season. I want to help with that.

“It was important for me to feel that the jersey meant something has weight. (I’m) not the type of guy who dribbles his way through five players and then scores.

“I love it when I have the feeling that I can go to war with them.”
