West Ham United could complete a deal for Juventus midfielder Denis Zakaria on Monday for a fee of around €20m.
That’s according to Tuttosport, who say Zakaria is set to return to London after his disappointing loan spell with Chelsea last season.
The newspaper explains that Juventus are currently focusing on sales to help balance the books and give them the funds to do their own business under new director of football Cristiano Giuntoli.
They have a long list of players they would like to move on and Zakaria is one of them, having failed to impress since an €8m move from Borussia Mönchengladbach.
Fortunately, he has interest from West Ham, who are going to need a replacement for Declan Rice, and Tuttosport say a move is ‘expected’ to happen on Monday for a figure around €20m.
That deal is labelled as a ‘coup’ for the Italian giants, who are also going to speak to the Hammers about midfielder Arthur.
Gazzetta dello Sport back this up somewhat, explaining that the English market is currently focused on Juventus’ midfield and that includes Zakaria.
They confirm that West Ham are keen on the Switzerland international, going as far as to say that they ‘insist’ on making a deal happen for him. They do not share the €20m figure or the fact it will be done on Monday, however.
The belief in Italy, though, is that a deal is being finalised and Zakaria will be the first of many departures from Juventus this summer, with West Ham keen to snap him up as they rebuild their midfield following the loss of Rice.
