Turkish newspaper Milliyet report West Ham have identified Besiktas midfielder Gary Medel as a target ahead of the January transfer window.
Milliyet claim West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini is keen to work with his compatriot and the English side will look to open talks with Besiktas in the coming days with regards to signing the Chile international.
It’s reported West Ham are ready to pay Besiktas a good fee for Medel, and the Turkish club are also open to selling him to ease their financial situation.
According to Milliyet, West Ham are looking to get a deal done quickly so Medel can play a part in January for the Premier League side.
Despite the club not performing well this season Medel has been one of the standout players for Besiktas.
The Chilean is no stranger to the Premier League having played for Cardiff City during the 2013-14 season. Medel is contracted to the Istanbul club until June 2020.
