West Ham United have been sending scouts to watch Bologna’s Santiago Castro this season ahead of a potential move in the summer.

That’s according to Tuttosport, relayed by FC Inter News, who say West Ham could compete with Inter Milan for the 20-year-old’s signature.

The newspaper reports that Castro remains a target for Inter this summer, with the Italian side believing he is similar to Lautaro Martinez.

They’ve been watching him for months and would like to bring him to the club this summer so he could grow alongside Martinez in the coming years.

They are having the 20-year-old followed constantly by their scouts, but they are not the only club in the mix.

West Ham are the latest to have sent scouts to watch the striker in action, taking notice of the seven goals and five assists he’s managed in 26 games in Serie A this season. He also has two goals and three assists in two games in the Coppa Italia.

Bologna are aware of the interest and have been consistently raising their asking price for him, with that now set at et at €25-30m. That would provide them with a big profit given he cost €13.2m to sign from Velez Sarsfield at the end of the January transfer window in 2024.

Whether West Ham would pay such a fee or be able to beat Inter Milan is up for debate, but they’ve sent scouts to watch Castro and are very much in the mix for him.
