West Ham United had a scout in attendance for Botafogo’s win over Santos this week to watch youngster Jeffinho ahead of a possible move.
That’s according to journalist Jose Passini, who say the Hammers were ‘delighted’ by what they saw from the 22-year-old.
He reports that the win over Santos may have been Jeffinho’s last game for Botafogo, who is being ‘monitored’ by several European clubs.
West Ham are one of them and had scouts in Brazil this week monitoring the player, who could become the biggest sale in his club’s history.
MSB Sports entrepreneurs, who act as the player’s agents, were seen leaving a box before the end of the game accompanied by representatives of foreign clubs.
Members of the scouting department at West Ham were in attendance for this week’s clash with Santos and were ‘delighted’ by what they saw.
The Hammers will face competition from around Europe should they make a move, though, with Werder Bremen, Ajax and AZ Alkmaar also interesting and sending representatives.
There’s no mention of an asking price at this point but with a club record sale being touted, and a contract until 2025, it may take a big figure for the Hammers to get their man.
