West Ham United are scouting Djurgårdens IF full-back Samuel Dahl after his recent call up to the Sweden squad.
That’s according to Aftonbladet, who report that West Ham are interested in the ‘brilliant’ 21-year-old, who is gaining suitors this summer.
The newspaper reports that Dalh’s performances for Djurgårdens IF over the last year and the fact he was recently rewarded with a place in the Sweden squad have not gone unnoticed outside of the country.
The Premier League have taken notice of him, and West Ham have been scouting him for a long time.
The defender is a player that West ham are following closely, although so far there has been no indication as to where their interest is concrete or not.
Djurgårdens IF have made it clear publicly that they don’t want to sell their rising star, with sports manager Bosse Andersson recently declaring “Samuel will remain in Djurgården”.
Dahl has also cooled any talks of a transfer this summer, insisting he is focused on international duty despite having a desire to play in Europe at some point.
“Now the focus is here, so it (the question of the future) is something I can take up during the leave in such cases. Bosse and the agents are involved there. I want some time off too,” he said.
“It is very difficult to answer. My dream is to go to Europe someday. But I’m also convinced that it will end well regardless of what happens.”
West Ham are yet to test that, it seems, but they’ve been following the player a while and with Ben Johnson set to leave on a free transfer, perhaps they will step up with something concrete soon.
