Earlier on Monday, we covered a report from Italy claiming that West Ham United were in pole position still when it came to the signing of Denis Zakaria.
That was good news for fans of the Hammers hoping their club sign the Switzerland international, but Gazzetta dello Sport bring both good and bad news to the table in their own report.
The Italian newspaper state that Juventus now consider the West Ham target’s departure as ‘imminent’ after the ‘positive contacts’ they held over the weekend with various clubs.
Yes, that does say various clubs, because it says that while the Serie A side are ready to say goodbye to their player as early as ‘this week’, they still don’t know where he is going.
This is due to the fact that Juventus have ‘reached an agreement in principle’ with three clubs, and those are AS Monaco, RB Leipzig and West Ham United.
Now, ‘it’s up to’ Zakaria himself to choose his next destination, meaning that the Turin side are still waiting to find out where they will be getting their fee of ‘around €20m’ from.
While it isn’t a huge sum, it is described as a ‘first – and substantial – shot in the arm’ for the Italians, as they continue to try and raise some funds for arrivals of their own.
