A little earlier we covered a report from Diario Vasco which stated West Ham United and Real Sociedad remain in talks to try and agree a loan for Nayef Aguerd.
The defender very much wants a move to La Liga, and La Real is the last option. The Basque club have been seeking a loan but didn’t want a buying option.
That’s because they have two young defenders coming through and don’t want to harm their development, or presumably send out the signal they’re not being counted on.
Now there’s an update from another Basque source, Noticias de Gipuzkoa, and they believe an agreement has now been found between West Ham and Real Sociedad.
There’s now an ‘agreement in principle’ in place between the two clubs, and it’s a case of making sure the paperwork is completed in time.
Aguerd will arrive on loan and La Real were pushing for West Ham to continue paying part of the defender’s salary. There’s no indication on what the final outcome of that was.
The cost of the loan is put at €2m.
