West Ham United are out of the race for Girona midfielder Aleix Garcia, with him seemingly set for Bayer Leverkusen.
That’s according to journalist Florian Plettenberg, who says West Ham’s apparent interest in the midfielder ‘was never concrete’ and they won’t be hijacking his move to Leverkusen.
Garcia has been heavily linked with a move away from Girona this summer after an impressive season in which he managed three goals and six assists as they shone in La Liga and qualified for the Champions League.
Several reports had thrown West Ham into the mix for him, with it first reported that they were ready to outbid Leverkusen for him if need be.
It was then claimed that their offer for the midfielder was the best one at this moment in time and that new manager Julen Lopetegui was pushing for the transfer to happen as he was in love with the player.
It seems, though, he will be left disappointed as Plettenberg now reports that Leverkusen are on the verge of finalising a deal for the Girona star.
According to him, West Ham are ‘definitely out of the race’ for the midfielder and were never absolutely concretely in the mix either.
There is no chance of them hijacking the deal at this point and it seems they will be looking elsewhere, while he heads to the Bundesliga.
