West Ham United star Lucas Paquetá should soon be back to the national team, according to reports from Brazil.
O Globo writes that manager Dorival Junior has the midfielder in his observation list and should call him up for the upcoming games.
Paquetá hasn’t played for Brazil since June 2023, as he had been investigated over some betting allegations, which were never a major problem for West Ham, who continued to use him.
This subject now seems to have been left behind, and O Globo says both Dorival Junior and the CBF believe there’s no issue in bringing him back now.
Paquetá should then get called up for Brazil’s next two games, which will be friendlies against England and Spain.
Since those are the first matches with the new manager in charge, it’s important for players to start guaranteeing their places before the Copa America.
The midfielder has been struggling with a calf injury and is sidelined by West Ham for two months now. There’s no certainty about his return date, but since Brazil’s games are only scheduled for the end of March, his recovery should be done by then.
