Manuel Lanzini’s lack of regular playing time at West Ham United has given rise to reports linking him with a move back to River Plate.

It was also rumoured a top official of River Plate was expected to travel to London to hold talks with the Hammers, to take the 28-year-old on a loan deal.

El Intransigente state a loan deal is ‘not in the plans’ because David Moyes’ side want to retain the attacking midfielder, especially since they will be playing in the Europa League next season.

The Argentine ‘maintains the desire’ to return to his former club, but there are several factors that would complicate a potential deal this summer.

According to the report, the main drawback is the player’s wages. If River Plate were to take Lanzini on a loan deal for six months, they will have to pay part of his salary and even that would be difficult for them.

In addition to this, West Ham are not in favour of allowing the player to go out on a temporary deal and they will only consider selling him if there’s a ‘good offer’.

In the event no convincing offer arrives at West Ham’s offices, Lanzini will continue with the Premier League side and fight for a place under Moyes’ orders.
