West Ham United defender Fabian Balbuena is ‘already negotiating’ with Real Betis ahead of his move exit from the London Stadium next month.

The Paraguay defender is set to become a free agent on July 1st, with West Ham having elected to let his contract expire and not offer a renewal.

He had been linked with a return to South America but now seems destined for Spain, with Betis having shown an interest courtesy of their manager Manuel Pellegrini.

He brought Balbuena to West Ham during his time in charge of the Hammers and is keen on a reunion with Aissa Mandi set to depart.

Andalucia Informacion cover the situation today and say Betis have already sent a ‘firm offer’ to Balbuena to play for them next season.

Their priority is to secure a centre-back before pre-season starts, and they’ve targeted Balbunea to fill the gap.

He’s currently with the Paraguay national team and is ‘considering various proposals’ made to him, including the one from Betis.

He is reportedly keen on the move to the Benito Villamarin but is ‘demanding more money’ from the club than he is currently being offered, however, the newspaper doesn’t divulge the current figures or what he wants.

The interest is there, though, and Betis are keen to get a deal done before pre-season, so the ball is very much in the West Ham man’s court.
